Do you need a habit or a goal to achieve your objective? The answer is both. At first glance habits and goals may seem similar, but there are key differences between the two that can make a big difference in how you use them to reach your objectives. Since we often talk about goals at the beginning of the year it might be useful to see how habits help us reach our goals. Habits are actions that you do regularly and often without thinking. They are usually unconscious and are the result of repeated practice over time. Habits are great for helping you maintain consistency and stay on track with your objectives. For example, if you have a goal to lose weight, forming healthy eating habits such as meal prepping and avoiding sugary snacks can help you stay on track. Goals, on the other hand, are specific objectives that you…

To manifest great things we must do a little more work than we may have anticipated, but less than we fear. Remember, stuff just sits there until you move it. Water runs downhill until you add pipes and pressure to alter its course. Cake ingredients are just ingredients until someone mixes and bakes them. There is no substitute for good old fashioned work. Professional titles are often actually named after the work activities they represent. Cooks, bakers, farmers, painters, builders, receive their titles directly from the work they do. Teachers teach, runners run, writers write. I have held my book in my mind and heart for more than a decade. The reason you can now hold it in your hands is because I went to work, put my hands to the keyboard of my computer, and physically wrote the words. As I go to work and write, my thoughts become…

Is there a program or process that propels us predictably to unprecedented personal power, productivity, and profit? Yes. Pathological Positivity. Our planet is plagued with a pandemic of poisonous pessimism. The popular perception of painful or perturbing problems is pathogenically paralyzing. Pathological Positivity programs and positions us to perceive positive possibilities in problems. It inspires and provokes people to apply positive principles and practices even in paralyzing predicaments. Pathological Positivity isn’t just a program or philosophy, it is a personal preference. It is a programmed proclivity to purposefully opt for the positive from a plethora of possible perceptions. This promotes powerful productivity and profit. Pandemic, pestilent and pernicious pessimism is pummeled into powder as professionals apply and promote pathologically positive paradigms. The payoff is phenomenal prosperity. What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. - Ralph Waldo Emerson Image courtesy of twobee/FreeDigitalPhotos.net about…

I read a compelling book this week by Bob Burg and John David Mann called, "The Go-Giver". These authors understand one of the best kept secrets of success, that human life income actually flows outward from you. I especially liked their five laws of stratospheric success which are: The Law of Valuebad credit military loans Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment The Law of Compensation Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them The Law of Influence Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests first. The Law of Authenticity The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself The Law of Receptivity The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving. I have personally experienced these laws to be true and effective. …

Kirk Hansen is a successful business leader and a pilot. I heard him talking last week about how before taking off, he goes through all of the safety checks on the airplane and requests clearance from the tower. When he is cleared for take-off, he pushes the throttle to full power and picks up speed as he moves along the runway, until he finally pulls back on the yoke and lifts into the sky. Like the throttle on that plane, we have our best chance of taking off if we are fully engaged. Half or quarter throttle just won’t give us the momentum we need to fly. Get fully engaged in your dreams! We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about. - Charles Kingsley Recharge your…
