My whole job here is to save and enrich key relationships. I have learned some things about what makes a marriage work. Here are the three things your spouse needs to hear every day. To introduce the first thing that your spouse needs to hear every day, I’m turning to my friend Woody Woodward. Woody wrote a book called, Your Emotional Fingerprint. He also produced a movie where he gets into this theory and I think he’s probably right. We are driven as human beings by what makes us feel important. With that context, let’s go to what your spouse needs to hear from you. They need to hear some version of this phrase, my life is better because you are in it. People really do need to feel important and that they make a difference, especially in this context. Who could be more important to you on this whole
Last night, I heard an inspiring presentation from my friend Woody Woodward. During the presentation he shared these three powerful ideas: What you focus on you feel. What you visualize you internalize. What you think about comes about. Get busy creating and living the life you love! I prefer the pain of hard work to the pain of regret. – Hunter’s Shirt – author unknown.
As most of you know, I have spent a lot of my career figuring out what makes people tick. One thing that seems to be very consistent in terms of human motivation is the desire to feel important. Dr. John Dewey said, “The deepest urge in human nature is the desire to be important”. Dale Carnegie in his epic book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, dedicated an entire chapter to the subject. When you understand what it is that helps you to feel important, you gain insight into why you do what you do. When people feel important, they can beat unbeatable odds, accomplish incredible things, and pull off the impossible. Discover what makes you feel important. I’m thinking more about this now because my friend Woody has just finished making an inspiring film about how people overcome enormous challenges, how they live their lives without fear,
